  (1) 表示因果关系的词或词组:because, reason, due to, since, so that, therefore等

  (2) 表示目的关系的词或词组:in order to, so as to, by等

词或词组:contrary to, unlike, like等

  the general house effect

the green house effect is not a new phenomenon. scientists have known for centuries that a layer of gases naturally surrounds the earth like an insulating blanket, trapping the reflected energy of the sun and preventing it from escaping into space that is what makes the earth warm enough for people, plants and animals. however, recent human activity has boosted concentrations of greenhouse gases and enhanced their heat-trapping ability. the man culprit is carbon dioxide which scientists estimate accounts for nearly half of global warming.co2 is released from burning fossil fuels and from clearing and burning forests.

there are other important greenhouse gases too and they cannot be ignored. cfcs, for example, may account for 25 per cent of global warming in the text century if their production is not scaled back. but carbon dioxide is the pivotal one. the un international panel on climatic change now says that co2 levels could double within in 40 years if present rates of fossil-fuel burning and deforestation continue. that means an average temperature increase between two and four degrees centigrade and a sea-level rise of perhaps a foot by 2050.

no one knows for certain how local weather will change as a result of this warming. but one thing is clear-it will be no picnic. indications are that the earth will be take place not over thousands of years, but over decades. and it is the speed of the change, which makes the precise impact so difficult to predict.

the most sophisticated com*rized climate models in the us and uk , agree that weather around the world will become more irregular and more extreme. in general, temperatures will become more towards the poles than at the equator. overall rainfall will also increase as higher temperatures boost evaporation from the seas. but the distribution of precipitation will shift. some areas will become wetter, others will be drier. in middle latitudes, climate zones will march poles-wards. in tropical and subtropical parts of the third would, warming will be less but the impact on a relatively stable climate will be greater.

global warming will also cause ocean levels to rise---though not, as popular wisdom has it, due to the antarctic ice cap melting. if this catastrophe occurs it will not be for at least another century. instead, sea levels will rise sim* because water expands as it warms. people living in low-lying coastal regions will be in danger. the world’s great river deltas, home to millions in asia and latin america and containing some of the third world’s richest food-growing land, could become brackish graveyards.

  6. which gas is the most responsible for global warming?

  a. carbon dioxide.

  b. cfcs.

  c. green houses.

  d. other gases in the atmosphere.

  7. what will happen if man continues to burn fossil fuels and forests at present rates?

  a. all fossil fuels, like coal, oil and gas, will run out.

  b. deforestation will give rise to the loss of co2.

  c. the temperature will increase two to four degrees fahrenheit.

  d. the rise of sea-level will reach about a foot by 2050.

  8. why is the precise impact the global warming will exert on local weather hard to predict?

  a. because the great changes in temperature will take place in just decades.

  b. because the course of changes will last thousands of years.

  c. because people are not sure whether the earth will be warmer than before.

  d. because there are many other factors involved in this change.

  9. which of the following is true according to the passage?

  a. the earth, as a whole, will become much wetter.

  b. the temperature around equator will rise more than around the poles.

  c. the amount of rainfall will be the same from place to place.

  d. the weather around the world will be more unusual in the next few decades.

  10. it can be concluded that

  a. the rise of ocean levels is due to the antarctic ice cap melting.

  b. the temperature increase will take a gradual course.

  c. human beings will have to suffer more from environmental damage.

  d. without greenhouse gases the earth would be extremely hot.

it is the speed of the change, which makes the precise impact so difficult to predict.

job hunting has always been a headache for college students. though many graduates are employed right after graduation, some are not. most serious of all, some still have no idea where to go working even a long time after graduation.

the reasons for this phenomenon are various. on the one hand, a few years ago colleges and universities enrolled so many students in popular majors, such as economy, finance and so on that the number of graduates was greater than the need in the market. on the other hand, most graduates would rather stay in large cities without suitable job to do than go to the country.

i reckon this problem can be solved if both colleges and students take measures. first, they should research the market and develop special skills to suit its need. second, students’ attitude towards employment should be changed. they should go to small cities and country. there they can also give full play to their professional knowledge. in a word, if we pay much attention, the situation can be improved.

due attention should be given to spelling

as is shown above, the bar chart clearly demonstrates the relationship between the education level and earning in 2010. it is obvious that well-educated persons such as owning doctoral degree and master's degree have a high salary than those who have relatively low degree. isolated as the figure seems to be, as a matter of fact, we can observe that the higher level of education you receive, the higher income you get.

people’s opinions about investment in education differ from person to person. some people say that knowledge could no longer change destiny. to them, it is not only a waste of money, but also a waste of time. others deem that education is worthy of investment. as for me it is no doubt that education offers favorable working opportunity and handsome income, which enable us to buy what we want ,please what we love, and fulfill what we dream, and correspondingly we are able to build an ideal paradise where life can be enjoyed to the uttermost.

in conclusion, we should realize significance of education, which plays a crucial role in personal growth of career. in addition, it is convinced that education is the prospect of a nation.

from the chart above, we can definitely get a conclusion that the more you learned, the higher your salary would be. the figures in the chart denied the claim that knowledge is useless. however quite a few people still hold the opinion that a higher education does no good to a better job since that there are many university students who can not get an ideal job.

what i want to point out is that there is more than one factor that contributes to the failure of finding an ideal job for those who got a higher education. while those who failed to get a better education will hardly succeed in getting a good job because they didn’t get the knowledge systematically and scientifically.

as the proverb goes like this, knowledge is power. education pays, sooner or later.

if my foreign friend comes to my hometown, i will take her to the central avenue .when it comes to the reasons why i choose this place, they can be briefly summed up as below. to start with, central avenue is a symbol of harbin, which has a long history. there are european-style buildings in mounting numbers along the street, attracting a great many tourists to take photos with them. moreover, a variety of delicious foods are tempting. taking a look around, i can find examples too numerous to list. the best illustration might be ice-cream brick of ma dieer. finally, brilliant historic culture can widen vision and enhance knowledge, laying a solid foundation for the understanding of this fabulous city. harbin is a city full of vitality and energy. i believe my foreign friend will enjoy her days

enhance awareness to guard against campus thefts

"if you don't want to wake up and find you have no pants to wear, you'd better put themon in sleep," goes a popular joke among students. obviously, campus thefts have becomeincreasingly annoying as they occur far more often than before. and it seems that the thievesare less choosy these days, with their targets ranging widely from bikes, cell phones, purses,pre-paid ic cards to sunglasses, bags, and even underwear. in short, anything that worth adime is likely to be stolen.

what makes students the easy targets? the reasons are not hard to find. but i believe ofall these reasons, the lack of anti-theft alertness is the most important. for lack of alertness, the students tend to leave the doors and windows wide open during sleep at noon or at nightin summer. for the same reason, they'll also leave their bikes unlocked before a store or by aroad, or forget to take away their personal stuff before they go out of the classroom to make aphone call.

these acts undoubtedly have increased their exposure to the light-fingeredmonsters.

in order to minimize possible losses, the students must stay on guard in the first place, asawareness of the thefts around often makes a big difference. to be more specific, thestudents should not hide any tempting amount of cash in the dorm. put it in the bank instead.besides, do not leave any valuable items unattended. take them wherever you go. inaddition, it's advisable to develop a neighbourhood watch programme with other students inthe dorm and neighbouring dorms.

certificate craze on campus英语四级作文1

in recent years, to get a certificate has become a new craze among college students. just randomly ask a student on campus what he or she is busy doing, quite possibly, you may get the answer that he is preparing for a certificate of some kind. why does this craze appear?

there are mainly two reasons behind this phenomenon. to begin with, it is the employment pressure that forces college students to get more certificates. with the admission expansion of colleges, a lot more graduates have to face the fierce competition in the job market. how can one make himself more competitive? more certificates at hand, maybe. furthermore, diploma and certificates are still vital standards by which a good many employers measure a persons ability. in order to increase the qualifications for a job, the students compel themselves to run from one exam to another.

from my point of view, we should be more rational when it comes to certificates, since certificates do not necessarily prove ones ability. being crazy in getting certificates blindly is nothing but wasting time. to conclude, we should focus on improving our ability but not getting a certificate of no practical value.

certificate craze on campus英语四级作文2

it is quite a common phenomenon that college students are enthusiastic over getting all kinds of certificates, such as accountant certificate, teacher certificate and so on. what is the reason for that? and it should be advocated or not?

in my opinion, there are two reasons accounting for the phenomenon. for one thing, many students think that the more certificates they get now, the more chances they can get a good job in the future. they are told that the companies or institutions think highly of the certificate when interviewing. therefore, they try their best to get all kinds of certificates, even though some have no any relationship with their majors or interests. for another, following others’ choices is another reason. a number of students go to purse the certificates because they find that many classmates around them are doing that so they think it would be safe to follow others.

from my point of view, it is not wise for everyone to follow others’ steps to get all kinds of certificates. i consider that we should make our choices combining with our own concrete conditions. besides, certificate is not the only one criterion to measure our ability and we should not be too enthusiastic over it.

certificate craze on campus英语四级作文3

now more and more people are keen on various certificates no matter whether he orshe is in college or not. my friend was surprised when she saw a man in hisforties sitting next to her and working on his accounting paper with struggle. whythey are so addicted to certificates is my concern.

from my perspective, there are various kinds of purposes. first of all, throughworking on a certificate, college students can gain more knowledge and skillsaside from their own major. what’s more, the more certificates students get, themore accesses they have to be offered good jobs. therefore, students choose towork on certificates, such as cet 4, cet 6 or cap, and so on. secondly, people inwork want to get promotions. companies need professional employees to meet withneed of the company’s development or our society’s development. thirdly, somecollege students, like me, want to live a meaningful and fruitful college life.

as far as i am concerned, we should choose to work on proper certificates, so thatwe can save our time to develop our practical ability.

search answer online

nowadays, internet plays a key role in our life for our various purposes, such as searching useful information or chatting online. however, as more and more people turn to the internet for help with their problems, people begin to take searching answer online seriously.

different people have different opinions. some hold the view that searching answer online can have bad impacts on people. since people can always surf on the internet to find the answers of their questions, they may get accustomed to doing it, and they are getting unwilling to solve problems by themselves. while others think that internet is a helper for people to solve a trouble.

as far as i'm concerned, we shouldn't completely depend on the internet. when we get into troubles, we’d better seek to find solutions. we can take the answer online as an inspiration to solve our questions, but don’t ap* mechanically.

  1、中心事物(可以是人,也可以是物);

  2、中心事物所处的状态或所处环境;

  3、中心事物的动作;

from my point of view, online games are a wonderful entertainment if college students play them in a reasonable way. when they interfere too much with their study, it is better for to give them up at once. yet if youngsters have enough self-control over them, they can certainly obtain real pleasure and benefit a lot from them.

according to a recent survey, in the last few years, quite a number of young people have chosen to quit their demanding but highly-paid jobs. although they may have their own respective reasons, i dont think their decisions are wise in reality.

its true the case is not unique. some people choose to do something less competitive so that they can lead a comfortable, easy life that a highly-paid job cannot obtain. they are afraid that the stresses and strains of work will rob them of joy and happiness and do them harm both physically and mentally. in fact, however, stress isnt the bad thing it is often supposed to be. a certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and challenge, and to give significance to an idle life. people under stress are likely to express their full range of potential and to realize goal of a human life.

from the bar chart given above, we can observe that it reflects the statistics of income among people of different educational background. those who possess a doctoral degree earn 1,551dollars median weekly, ranking first among people of other education level. the median weekly earnings of people with associate degree and below can not reach the average of 797 dollars, ranking from 768 dollars to 451 dollars. as for the unemployment rate, 2.5 % of people with doctoral degree will suffer form unemployment. however, the unemployment rate of people with some college, no degree and lower degree surpass the mean value of7.6%, ranking from 8.7% to 14.1%.

the bar chart of education pays reveals a phenomenon that there exits some difference in incomes and unemployment rate among people with different educational level. quite a few reasons can account for this phenomenon: for one thing, with the advancement of technology and the adjustment of industrial structure, quite a few high-tech industries emerge overnight, which leads to a soar demand of workforces with high educational degree, thus, it is natural that graduates with bachelor’ and higher degree get a high pay-packet and enjoy a stable job. additionally, those with educational background under associate degree are easily dismissed and paid by low salary. they can be replaced any time due to the fact that their jobs are easy and can be finished by average people.

definitely, the higher education degree you get, the more likely you are to enjoy a competitive edge in the employment market. thus, the authorities should enforce some policies to ensure the equity of education. only in this way can more people lead a stable and comfortable life.

from the chart above, we can definitely get a conclusion that the more you learned, the higher your salary would be. the figures in the chart denied the claim that knowledge is useless. however quite a few people still hold the opinion that a higher education does no good to a better job since that there are many university students who can not get an ideal job.

what i want to point out is that there is more than one factor that contributes to the failure of finding an ideal job for those who got a higher education. while those who failed to get a better education will hardly succeed in getting a good job because they didn’t get the knowledge systematically and scientifically.

as the proverb goes like this, knowledge is power. education pays, sooner or later.

first, the widespread use of internet technology, especially smart phones, allows people to know what is happening outside without going out. people just need to pick up a mobile phone, connect to the internet, and open the corresponding software, then the major eventsof the world will be caught in their eyes.they no longer have to open books and newspapers or go out to get information. second, the appearance of takeaways has also made people lazier. people can get whatever they want to eat without cooking for themselves or even getting up to go to a restaurant. in addition, online shopping is more enjoyable for people. many people forgo the tiring activity of going to the mall, instead, they lie in the sofa and just move their fingers. therefore, the decline in exercise has left many people in declining health.

"runner fan", nickname of fan meizhong, who ran out of the classroom leaving his students behind during the may 12 earthquake, has caused a controversy concerning traditional chinese values. many people regard his action as wrong and a direct violation of teachers responsibility and i would have to agree with them.

firstly, it is the responsibility of a teacher to protect his students safety by law. being concerned solely fol his own life and leaving his students behind while fleeing violates the spirit of the law. in an emergency, each teacher is responsible for the direct supervision of his students. furthermore, it will be of great help if they can direct the evacuation of their students to designated assembly areas in accordance with warning signals and written notification. it is out of the question that they should not remain with their students until rescue crews arrive. secondly, teachers act as a role model for their students. the compulsory education law does stipulate that “a teacher should be a model of virtue for others and should be devoted to the education of the people." teachers not only teach students how to think, but also how to behave to support others in society. fleeing the classroom and leaving the students behind in an emergency sets a bad example for students.

to conclude, teachers are responsible for students safety in an emergency. teachers are expected to demonstrate responsible behaviour and they ought to be specifically trained to deal with emergency situations. (248 words)
